ColourFutures™ & WoodFutures 2017: A new way of living

Every year, the AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Center together with international experts from the design industry develops the trend colour worlds for the coming year. This time, we realised that we could make the colour palettes even more suited to people's lifestyles if we based our trend research on a broader base and incorporated international developments in politics, society and the economy into our forecasts. Worldwide, we are witnessing a new appreciation of the everyday - the real things in life. Family and friends, a balance between one's work and private life, health and a connection to nature are gaining new significance. As a result, we have called the key trend for 2017 "A new way of living".

Colour of the year 2017 - Denim Drift

Denim drift is the colour of the year 2017. Because of its versatility, this colour is the ideal choice for every lifestyle and interior. From a deep, inky blue to a very pale, misty blue, the colour represents the entire spectrum of living. Overall, the colour of the year 2017 provides you with a very pleasant colour palette. The colours represent the desire for balance and stimulation. The colour palettes are characterised by an interesting contrast between strong, bold colours and a selection of muted, lighter tones.

Trend timbers 2017

If we focus on really importance values, wood is highly prized. Wood is the most natural and unique of all materials, offering endless possibilities for combining with coloured surfaces or other materials such as glass, stainless steel, leather, fabrics etc. Every year, we attend the most important furniture trade fairs in Cologne
